CETYS University is launched as Regional Development Center for North America of the Belt and Road Aerospace Innovation Alliance

In the presence of authorities, Northwestern Polytechnical University representatives, aerospace partner universities from three continents, and aerospace industry leaders, on August 26, 2022, in Tijuana Campus, CETYS University celebrated the launch ceremony for the Regional Development Center for North America of the Belt and Road Aerospace Innovation Alliance (BRAIA).

The launch ceremony was part of the celebrations of the first 50 years of diplomatic relations between Mexico and China. Madame Yu Yue, General Consul of the Consulate General of China in Tijuana, attended the event and gave her congratulatory speech, highlighting that Mexico has become China’s second-largest trading partner in Latin America. Madame Yue hoped that the two universities and the Alliance would further strengthen cooperation in education and scientific research, and continue to promote cultural exchanges between China and Mexico.

Mr. Chen Jianyou, Vice President of Northwestern Polytechnical University, said that the aerospace Alliance will continue to contribute to enhancing the friendship between the Chinese and Mexican people, and strengthen the strategic cooperative partnership between China and Mexico, wishing that the two universities will continue to innovate and to promote academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation and personnel exchanges in aerospace.

Dr. Fernando Leon-Garcia, President of CETYS University, closed the event by noting that the Alliance deepens the exchange between the university and international young talents, and aerospace experts, providing rich cooperation opportunities for CETYS University and many other partners and also promotes the effective expansion of bilateral cooperation into multilateral cooperation. 

The Alliance will continue to uphold the concept of “openness and inclusiveness, win-win cooperation and shared development”, strengthening the training of international talents in the aerospace field, said Leon-Garcia. 

This Alliance will play an important role in collaborative innovation in multilateral cooperation, making it an important symbol of multilateral cooperation and contributing more to jointly building a community with a shared future for mankind.

The event had the presence and speeches of Professor Adnan Maqsood, National University of Science and Technology of Pakistan; Professor Mohamed Khalil of the Egyptian Military Institute of Technology, and Professor Xavier Ferre, delegate of the Rector of the Madrid Polytechnic University of Spain, and it was attended across 15 time zones by participants both in person and virtually.
