Honoring the past with a broad vision of the future, CETYS University will engage in new projects reflected in the CETYS 2036 Developing Plan starting next year, shared the President, Dr. Fernando León-García, during the commemorative ceremony of the 61st anniversary of the institution.

CETYS University celebrates a history of more than six decades dedicated to educate the leaders that Mexico and the world need.

In September 2021, the institution began a 12-month celebration and commemorative events around its first 60 years, which concluded on September 20 to give way to a new cycle of innovation, growth, and attention to trends and environmental needs under the international and humanistic perspective of CETYS.

Developing in its students the moral and intellectual capacity necessary to participate in the economic, social, and cultural improvement of Mexico and beyond our borders, is a mission that can only be fulfilled by combining cutting-edge and comprehensive academic programs, with the interest and support of public and private organizations, highlighted Dr. Fernando León-García, President of the CETYS University System, who in the company of Gustavo Vildósola-Ramos, Chair of the Instituto Educativo del Noroeste A.C. (IENAC); Dr. Alberto Gárate-Rivera, academic Vice-president of the CETYS University System; Dr. Mario Dipp-Núñez, Dean of the Mexicali Campus; Professor Gerardo Solís-Benavides, Secretary of Education in Baja California and representative of the Governor of the entity, Marina del Pilar Ávila-Olmeda; Jim Brigadier, President of Global Markets Anthology and Professor José G. Mata-Temoltzin, President of the Federation of Private Mexican Institutions of Higher Education (FIMPES) and President of the Universidad Anáhuac Puebla, led the anniversary celebration.

Honoring the founders, President León-García remembered phrases from those who established CETYS decades ago, such as “CETYS is and will be what its graduates are. We are positive that the best years are yet to come.” He added that in the coming months, details of the CETYS 2036 Developing Plan will be announced, which will provide students and the community with a transformative experience, a culture of innovation, predisposition, and capacity for change, as well as a significant impact under a global vision.

To achieve this, new projects will be developed, such as the construction at the Mexicali Campus of the “Professor Enrique Carlos Blancas de la Cruz” Center of Excellence in Human and Social Development, in honor of the former Fifth President of CETYS University System; the Center of Excellence in Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship, and the Student Center as well as the House of Fine Arts at the Tijuana Campus; the inauguration of the Center for Wine Studies on the Ensenada Campus; the creation of the iCampus, the integration of a reference teaching staff and teaching staff without borders, as well as the construction and acquisition of the infrastructure and technology necessary for its operations.

«These are some of the works we will develop towards our 75th anniversary, expanding our horizons but maintaining the mission of training and integrally developing people to better respond to the community. This is what our CETYS will seek to implement in 2036,» said Dr. Fernando Leon-Garcia.

“We are encouraged by the fact that the official launch of the CETYS 2036 Plan is drawing near, as it will mark the beginning of a new stage. Today we can barely imagine what this vision that CETYS has built holds. If we look back and appreciate all that CETYS has achieved in the last ten years, we can only dare to imagine what will be possible 10 or 15 years from now,” highlighted the Chair of IENAC, Gustavo Vildósola-Ramos.

Jim Brigadier, President of Mercados Globales Anthology, an educational organization that serves millions of students around the world through its various digital education services, highlighted the relevance of CETYS University in the educational field in Mexico and the echo it generates at the international level. Also, he presented Dr. Fernando León-García with a copy of the book Legacy Conversations, a compilation that includes the testimony of 22 leaders who promote educational projects that stand out for their diversity and scope in Latin America, including the President of the CETYS University System, as an anniversary gift.

Professor José G. Mata-Temoltzin, President of FIMPES, recognized CETYS as one of the best Mexican educational institutions and highlighted the relevance of the vision of the founders of CETYS University.

“You must ponder the past with gratitude to live the present with great passion and project yourself into the future. Its founders, visionaries seeking to improve and impact the quality of living within their region, decided to put their resources, potential, and leadership at your service. Thus, the decisions we make as individuals can impact thousands of people in the future. If those eight leaders had not heeded that vocational call, this celebration would not be possible 61 years later” said Mata-Temoltzin.

The representative of the Government of Baja California and CETYS University graduate, Professor Gerardo Solís-Benavides, highlighted the altruism, humanism, and social work that have characterized CETYS since its foundation in 1961. “You will continue to build your destiny, your vision. I am sure that after 61 years, you will preserve the legacy of this beautiful institution,” he told students and graduates present at the commemorative act, which also brought together IENAC board members, professors, employees, and CETYS Alumni.
