46 worlwide educational leaders were selected to be part of the prestigious ACE Fellows 2017-2018 program, including Gabriela Rivera, Associate Director for International Affairs, and Dr. Jorge Sosa, Dean of the College of Engineering and head of the Center for Excellence in Innovation and Design, both academics of the CETYS University System.
The American Council on Education (ACE) announced that only two people from mexican institutions were selected for this year’s ACE Fellows Program. The Program is the most prestigious in the field of leadership and Higher Education in USA; it combines interactive learning opportunities, visits to various campuses and other organizations related to higher education, as well as the opportunity to be under the mentorship of university or US higher education organization leaders. The selected people also carry out relevant projects and seek to implement their findings for their home institution once their participation in the program has ended.
The ACE Fellows Program is the longest running leadership development program in the United States.
“It is a great opportunity to learn and receive academic leadership training in a high-level environment. Because of the times in which we are living it is also a great opportunity to share our experiences as an educational institution in Mexico. As a Mexican who occupies a leadership position, there is much to know and bring back to the community, but there is also much to show and share” said Dr. Jorge Sosa.
It is an honor to have been nominated and subsequently selected to participate in this prestigious leadership development program. Being able to learn from best practices in other universities and institutions of higher education in various subjects is an opportunity that I am sure will be of great help in translating or adapting initiatives that generate impact, opportunity and improvement for our CETYS,”said Gabriela Rivera.
