CETYS’ GRADUATES RECEIVE NATIONAL LEADERSHIP DISTINCTION FOR THEIR COMMITMENT TO MEXICO AND HIGHER EDUCATION

Gustavo de Hoyos Walther, COPARMEX president and Fernando León García, President of CETYS University, are among “The 300 Mexican leaders”.

 

Every year, in an effort to recognize the experience of leading figures in 14 categories, the prestigious “Líderes Mexicanos” magazine presents a list of “The 300 Most Influential Leaders in Mexico”. The categories are: Science, culture, sports, entrepreneurship, entertainment, international, opinion leader, media, civil society organizations, executive power, legislative power, judiciary power, politics, and professionals.

The magazine announced the names for 2018, and two Cetys University alumni have been recognized. Gustavo de Hoyos Walther who graduated from the Bachelor of Business Administration and holding Specialty as well as Masters in Corporate and International Law degrees from CETYS University. He is currently President of COPARMEX, the leading business organization in Mexico. It ranks 73rd on the list in the category of civil society organizations. 

Fernando León García, a graduate of Industrial Engineering and President of CETYS University, who holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University, occupies the 176th place in the list within the same category.

This is yet another testament to the leadership of CETYS graduates, who stand out nationally and internationally for their active involvement in projects that trigger the development of their regions and communities. CETYS celebrates the recognition of these two graduates who have been chosen by this prestigious publication.

The publication notes that Gustavo de Hoyos has been a board member of Infonavit, Nafin, INADEM, Bancomext, and Infonacot, all major agencies of the Mexican Federal Government, and has written for major newspapers and magazines such as Reforma, Excélsior, El Universal, El Sol de México, and Proceso. He has demonstrated an unwavering interest in and support to education and entrepreneurship for young people.

Regarding Dr. León García, the magazine points out that he significantly improved the positioning, recognition, and integration of CETYS University in key organizations such as the American Council on Education. He has been the academic leader of a global series of programs, campuses and extensions in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Among the 300 leaders included in the 2018 list, 6 are in charge of the rectories of academic institutions nationwide, these being: Salvador Alba Gómez, Technological Institute of Higher Studies of Monterrey; Arturo Manuel Fernández Pérez, Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM); Enrique Graue Wiechers, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM); Fernando León García, CETYS; José Antonio Lozano Díez, UP-IPADE System; and Cipriano Sánchez García, Universidad Anáhuac México.
