CETYS’ Board strengthens partnerships in Nevada

With the purpose of learning about the best practices in higher education and collaborative work between universities and the industry, members of the Instituto Educativo del Noroeste, A. C. (IENAC), and Directives of CETYS University, visited the University of Nevada, Campuses Reno and Las Vegas, as well as  the Innevation Center, the Desert Research Institute, the Harry Reid Research & Technology Park, Tesla and Panasonic facilities.

At the University of Nevada, Reno, President Dr. Marc Johnson and his team received the members of the board, where they had the opportunity to learn about research projects on autonomous robotics, energy storage, as well as renewable energies, such as geothermal and water use.

After that, they attended the Innevation Center, a collaborative workspace and community event venue driving Nevada’s new innovation economy, where the UNR students have the resources and guidance for development in diverse projects.

In their visit to the Gigafactory of Tesla and Panasonic ́s facilities, the board members of IENAC and CETYS Directives, had met with the staff in charge of the student’s internships, in order to know about the opportunities available for students of CETYS University to be part of this project.

Moreover, Dr. Kumud Acharya, President of the Desert Research Institute (DRI) received the group in their facilities, where they get to know about research projects. As part of the visit, future collaborations between DRI and CETYS University were also discussing.

On the last day of activities, the board members of IENAC and CETYS Directives went to University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where they learn about the academic programs of the Campus, such as Liberal Arts, Hospitality and students leadership, “Honors College”. After that, the group went to the Harry Reid Research & Technology Park, a technological center where companies develop diverse projects with the help of UNLV.

As part of the visit, Dr. Fernando León García, President of CETYS University, and Dr. Marta Meana, President of UNLV, firmed an agreement of collaboration for future work between institutions.

The visit to Nevada was led by the President of IENAC, Mr. Gustavo Vildósola Ramos, and Dr. Fernando León García, with the presence of board members of IENAC, Directives and Vice-presidents of CETYS University.

Like other years, the board members of IENAC visited higher education institutions, with the purpose of creating new partnerships between universities located in the USA. Some of the past visits, have been in the cities of Seattle, Boston, San Francisco and Claremont.
