CETYS University named Regional Development Center for North America for the BRAIA Alliance

The Belt and Road Aerospace Innovation Alliance (BRAIA) is an international non-profit organization founded in April 2017 on the initiative of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) in Xi’an.  The Alliance counts 74 members among universities, research institutions, and enterprises in the aerospace field in 22 countries and 6 continents.  CETYS University has been a member of BRAIA since September 2019.

On April 22, 2022, the 5th anniversary of BRAIA was celebrated with over 80 participants from all over the world including the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs.

Prof. ZHANG Weihong, member of the Chinese Academy of Science, and Vice President of Northwestern Polytechnical University opened the 5th anniversary ceremony by saying that the charter of the alliance is to promote cooperation in education, science, and technology, promote the opening and exchange of high-quality educational resources, and strengthen cooperation and exchanges with well-known international university alliances.

As part of the 5th anniversary ceremony, BRAIA announced the establishment of the Regional Development Center (RDC) for North America at CETYS University. The plaque was handed by Northwestern Polytechnical University Vice President Prof. Zhang Weihong to Prof. Juan Terrazas, Dean of the College of Engineering at CETYS University.

Prof. Juan Terrazas presented the working plan of CETYS as RDC for North America; the activities planned are not only directed at promoting international research and education in aerospace but also to develop people to people communication and collaboration among the BRAIA members.
