Scholarship Program for Tecate Students

In celebration of CETYS University’s 64th anniversary and the Sempra Infrastructure Foundation’s 10th anniversary, the inception of the Sempra Infrastructure Foundation–CETYS Scholarship has been announced. This new academic grant will provide full tuition coverage for Tecate students pursuing undergraduate degrees in any program offered at CETYS University.

The announcement took place at the Tecate Institute of Art and Culture (IMACTE). During the event, Dr. Fernando León García, President of CETYS University, highlighted the program’s focus on fostering local talent. He noted that in its inaugural year, two students from Tecate will be selected to begin their university studies in August 2026, with the goal of supporting their academic and personal growth while contributing to the economic development of the region.

“As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sempra Infrastructure Foundation and the 64th anniversary of CETYS University, we are proud to present this extraordinary opportunity for the youth of Tecate. Partnerships between academic institutions and the private sector are essential for building a better future,” said Dr. León García.

Diego Franco Calvillo, Manager of the Sempra Infrastructure Foundation, underscored the company’s commitment to community well-being and prosperity, emphasizing its belief in the transformative power of education.

Miguel Urriza, Director of Advancement for the CETYS System, added that the scholarship program is open to students from both public and private high schools in Tecate. The event was attended by many distinguished guests including Mónica Manzanilla Arellano, Vice President for Institutional Advancement of the CETYS System; Yanina Rubio, Director of CETYS University Tijuana Campus; Eduardo Miranda Liera, Secretary of the Tecate City Council; and Miranda Andrade, Delegate of the State Education System.
