The collaboration between Promotora de las Bellas Artes, A.C. (PBA) and CETYS Universidad has given rise to a groundbreaking project, redefining how the Baja California community embraces art, cultural rights, and education for children, adolescents, and youth. Under the emblematic motto «Sowing the Future,» an event was held to celebrate the symbolic planting of a mesquite tree, marking the foundation of Casa de las Bellas Artes, known as «CaBA».

Designed by the renowned architectural firm Studio Huerta, CaBA will find its home on the CETYS Universidad Tijuana Campus. CaBA will serve as a vibrant community hub, living up to its name—a haven, a place of belonging—and will provide arts education to the communities served by PBA, as well as CETYS students.

The act of planting the mesquite tree to commemorate the project’s inception symbolizes the commitment and unity of two organizations deeply aware that art and education possess the power to transform lives. CaBA will become a space where creativity, education, and nature converge, with the tree bearing witness to the evolution of this endeavor in the years ahead.

During the ceremony, the Founding President of PBA, Mrs. Alida Guajardo; Dr. Fernando León-García, President of CETYS University; and Mr. Gustavo Vildósola, President of the Instituto Educativo del Noroeste AC (IENAC), shared their thoughts and collective vision for CaBA. Community members supporting this philanthropic endeavor were also present.

«I want to acknowledge the efforts of Mrs. Alida Guajardo, who began the arduous journey of nurturing musical appreciation among children and young people 31 years ago, granting access to cultural activities for those with financial limitations. Through PBA, art, music, values, and good citizenship are promoted among thousands of individuals. Today, we take pride in being allies, merging our visions for the benefit of the community,» remarked Dr. Fernando León-García during his welcome address.

«We wouldn’t have reached this point without the invaluable support of our sponsors; they have been the steel, an essential component. The choir children and their families represent the concrete, shaping the project’s foundation, while CETYS forms the fertile ground, allowing us to sow the seeds of the future. The donor is the workforce, the one who envisioned this moment, enabling us, through CaBA, to offer unprecedented opportunities to thousands of children,» expressed Mrs. Alida Guajardo at the symbolic event.

«Today, we celebrate not only the planting of a tree but the cultivation of a future where art, education, and humanism intertwine to enrich lives and the community,» were some of the words shared by Mr. Vildósola-Ramos.

The attendees included sponsors, partners, advisors, and administrative personnel from both institutions.

The collaboration between PBA and CETYS will mark the beginning of a deep alliance between higher education and the local community, with a focus on the holistic development of the city’s future generations.
