Dr. Ioannis PAPPAS, CEO & Co-Founder of GREEN EVOLUTION SA, is Director for Mediterranean Region of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
He is a Mechanical Engineer, with PhD in Applied Mechanics, with over 29 years experience in several fields of science, focusing in Sustainability for Tourism, Energy and Environmental Efficiency in Infrastructure and Buildings, Advising in standardization of companies and technological implementation of climate adaptation and mitigation methodologies.
He is Lead GSTC Assessor for Destinations, Auditor / Assessor for Sustainable Tourism Certification Standards, focusing in Hotels, Tour Operators and Destinations, and Lead Trainer for GSTC in South East Europe Region.
Finally, he is the head expert of GSTC team on the Collaboration Contract between GSTC & the Greek Ministry of Tourism on the implementation of Sustainability into the new National Tourism Strategy.
Dr. Azly Rahman was an International Summer2019 faculty/instructor for CETYS, where he taught the course Cross Cultural Management with Professor Francisco Velez-Torres. Professor Rahman also teaches Psychology Economics, and World History in a college-prep academy in New Jersey, USA. He is also an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University where he teaches amongst others, course in Global Issues and Cross-Cultural Perspectives.
He was born in Singapore (part of British Malaya then) and grew up in a village in Johor Baru, Malaysia and holds a Columbia University (New York City) doctorate in International Education Development and Masters degrees in six areas. He has edited and authored eight books.
Dr. Rahman is also an international columnist for three major academic online forums: Politurco (New Jersey, USA), Malaysiakini (Malaysia) and Eurasia Review (Oregon USA). In his 15 years of writing for these forums, he has written over 400 articles on wide-ranging topics: Politics, Philosophy, Culture, Education, and Global Issues.
He is currently working on a memoir, a novel, a collection of 300 poems, and a book on Gifted and Talented Education in Malaysia, honoring a prominent Malaysian educator. He is looking forward to meeting his students online at the 2020 CETYS International Summer program and hopes to one day soon to come back to beautiful and gorgeous City of Ensenada to teach again at the beautiful campus of CETYS!
Anna Opalka is the Head of the External Relations Department, University of Applied Sciences in Nysa, Poland. The Administrative Director of the Research and Development Centre of Renovation and Conservation, Institutional Erasmus Plus Programme Coordinator, Coordinator of the EuroIndia Centre at UAS Nysa, trainer and lecturer.
Graduated on Master Economics at the University of Economics in Cracow, Poland in 2004, completed the Postgraduates Studies in Management at the Wrocław University with the diploma in 2012.
Actually, scientific area focuses on the higher education institutions internationalisation and international projects management, also in the area of conservation and cultural heritage protection management.
She was part of the PR & Marketing Agency Retro former staff in 1996-1998. Staff member of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice in period: 1998-2004.
In period: 2016-2018- a member of the ELIA ( European Ligue of Institutes of Art Executive Group), as a consultant and decision maker in terms of art education trends and challenges in Europe.
In 2013 certified as the Quality Systems Auditor and involved in the quality assurance processes planning and implementation within the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa. Nominated as one of the fours best International Coordinators in Poland as EDUINSPIRATOR in 2016 (among all the universities in Poland).
Alex Steenstra earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Utah. He is a Professor of Finance & Economics for Northern Arizona University in Yuma and currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Business and Administration. In addition, he is the Director of the Master of Global Business Administration program and has served as the assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs in Yuma. He has over 20 years of experience in business and economic development.
Dr. Steenstra has international teaching and working experience. He has taught in New Zealand, Mexico, and the USA. His research, publications, and teaching include economic development, regional economic development in the Southwest border region, and the economic value of water rights. He has presented his research in the USA, Mexico, New Zealand, and Australia.
His experience in the private and public sector includes serving as the CEO of his consulting firm in the Netherlands, and as an accountant, controller, and CFO for several firms in the USA. In the public sector, he was a Senior Economist and Program Manager for Waikato Regional government in New Zealand.
Dr. Steenstra has served on the board of the International Boundary and Water Commission US Section, Colorado River Citizens Forum, Visit Yuma, and is a member of Imperial Valley Mexicali Binational Alliance.
