Nason Award for Board Leadership\u201d during its National Conference held in Dallas, Texas on April 2nd.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its recipient was Instituto Educativo del Noroeste, A.C. or IENAC, CETYS University\u2019s Board of Trustees, which demonstrated exceptional leadership and initiative after a major earthquake that struck the university in 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sensing an opportunity to not only rebuild but create a new institutional identity, the Board adopted a new governance model to act as one board, rather than as a group of regional boards. Today, CETYS is a clear example of the benefits of having an engaged, properly oriented board sharing an audacious vision and the ethos of \u201cOne Dream, One Team.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen you have the honor and distinction to serve as a Board member in a University, it implies that Society relies on you. In our case, our families trust us, CETYS trusts us, our children trust us to make such endeavor the best. It is not a job, it is a calling.\u201d shared CETYS\u2019 Board President, Juan Ignacio Guajardo, adding that \u201cthis award or recognition, is frankly inspiring, because in effect, the IENAC Board is recognized, using Alfred Lord Tennyson\u2019s words, as being \u2018strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield\u2019 in our quest and vision\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBoards are a lynchpin in institutional success and we hope that, by honoring these institutions, others will look to better themselves. These boards\u2019 stories stood out in a climate of great change in higher education. We are impressed by their commitments to consequential governance and look forward to recognizing them at our opening session.\u201d said AGB President Richard D. Legon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CETYS President, Dr. Fernando Le\u00f3n Garc\u00eda, congratulated IENAC and stressed the importance of the support of visionary leaders committed to quality, benefitting both the institution and the border region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nearly 70 nominations were received describing impressive work led by boards of public and private institutions and foundations. This year, AGB honored five of them: Beacon College (Leesburg, Florida), The College of William &amp; Mary Foundation (Williamsburg, Virginia), The Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio), Whittier College (Whittier, California), and CETYS University (Baja California, Mexico).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About IENAC and CETYS University<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IENAC holds the fiduciary responsibility of safeguarding the institutional mission, ensuring that institutional outcomes are met through education of the highest caliber\/quality, maintaining institutional health and sustainability, providing oversight and supporting institutional projects through generous philanthropic support.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based in Baja California, CETYS University is one of Mexico\u2019s premier higher education institutions and one of the few accredited by the international agency, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
