Two alumni and a current student from CETYS University were selected to participate in the Seeds for the Future 2024 program, an intensive training course by Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA). This year marks the tenth edition of Seeds for the Future, a prestigious program where only the top 30 students in Mexico are chosen, and from these, the top 10 will advance to the next stage in El Salvador later this August.

Alejandro Dumas, a recent graduate in Electronic Cybernetics Engineering from the Tijuana Campus; Edson De León-Ledesma, a graduate in Computer Science Engineering from the Mexicali Campus; and Jessell Banda, a student in the Global Program for Industrial Engineering at the Mexicali Campus, underwent rigorous four-week training in areas like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, 5G, and Digital Energy.

The 30 national finalists were selected from universities such as the National Polytechnic Institute, UNAM, Autonomous University of Zacatecas, Tec de Monterrey, Anáhuac University Oaxaca, Technological Institute of Aguascalientes, CETYS University, and others.

The award ceremony was held at Huawei Technologies’ offices in Mexico City, bringing together prominent leaders from government, industry, and academia. Among the distinguished guests were Carlos Gorostiza, General Director of Communications for the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation; Carmen Rodríguez-Armenta, General Director of Higher Education; Arturo Reyes-Sandoval, General Director of the National Polytechnic Institute; and Liu Jiude, General Director of Huawei Mexico.

ADVANCING TO THE SECOND STAGE

Of the three CETYS participants, Alejandro Dumas and Jessell Banda advanced to the second stage, where only the top 10 will be selected. This stage will be held from August 24 to 31 in El Salvador, where the representatives for Mexico who will compete in the final stage in China will be decided.

«Sharing experiences with my fellow participants made me realize how unique the learning journey was for each of us. We gained insight into the operations and structure, and we got hands-on exposure to the products and services offered by a leading company like Huawei. The process wasn’t easy, but the instructors made it incredibly enriching and sparked my desire to learn even more,» said Mexicali student Jessell Banda.
