From October 30 to 31, 2025
About
We are delighted to share that the XVII Cross-Border Library Forum will be held at CETYS University Mexicali Campus on October 30 and 31st, 2025.
As you may remember, the first iteration of the Forum was in 1988 when librarians from Arizona and Sonora recognized the importance of improving the communication between libraries in Mexico and the US. The group invited colleagues from both sides of the border to participate in the organization of the first forum, which was held in 1991 in Rio Pico, Arizona. The next year the event was held in Hermosillo, with the last Forum taking place in 2011
Over ten years later, the importance of strengthening relationships between Mexico and US libraries remains. For this reason, the CETYS and SDSU libraries have decided to breathe new life into the Forum through the XVII Cross-Border Library Forum with the central topic: Getting back on track and crossing borders: collaborating in a new era.
The Forum aims to be a space for experiences sharing among the attending librarians and learning how they are facing current challenges and disseminating these innovative initiatives.
We look forward to your participation. Save the date!

Share Your Expertise at the XVII Transborder Library Forum
Join us for the XVII Transborder Library Forum, where professionals from across the region will come together to exchange knowledge, ideas, and innovative practices.
This year’s theme, «Getting Back on Track and Crossing Borders: Collaborating in a New Era,» highlights the evolving challenges libraries face, and the creative solutions being implemented. The forum provides a dedicated space for professionals to share their experiences, strategies, and forward-thinking approaches to library services in a rapidly changing landscape.
For centuries, border regions have been defined by the convergence of cultures, geographies, and perspectives. This forum seeks to foster meaningful discussions on the paths we are forging, the challenges ahead, and the opportunities to build responsible, sustainable partnerships.
