College of Psychology
Psychology, as a training professional field, has an important history and an established tradition of academic quality inside our institution as well as in the city and without a doubt on the northwestern part of the country. The bachelor’s degree in Psychology was opened to the public as an undergraduate degree in CETYS University on February 11, 1980. Later on in 1996, the Doctoral degree in Psychology was opened; a very flexible syllabus that offered the possibility of obtaining degrees of specialization, of master’s degree, and naturally, of doctoral degree in Psychology. The Master’s degree in Family Therapy opened in 2001, and in 2004 there was a master’s degree in Psychology with 5 concentrations designed. These two graduate programs are active up to date.
The administrative structure where these programs were based has been remarkably modified from 2004 to date. Up to that moment, the undergraduate and graduate degrees in Psychology were two separate entities that had their own coordination and management. Starting on 2007 the organizational structure by academic department is modified to give way to an organization by Colleges; this allows the undergraduate and graduate programs in Psychology to turn into one academic unit under one management and depending solely from the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
The purpose of this change has been to strengthen the three strategic lines of the institution, this means:
Mission of the College of Psychology:
The College of Psychology of CETYS University is an academic entity oriented to the holistic training of psychology professionals at an undergraduate degree, master’s degree, and doctoral degree levels committed with their community in accordance with the educational model of our University.
Vision of the College of Psychology:
To be the best option to study an undergraduate degree or a graduate program in Psychology in Baja California and in the Northwestern region.
