Dr. Fernando León–García has been President of CETYS University since 2010. Prior to that, he served as Chancellor of City University of Seattle‘s International Division, covering programs, campuses, and sites across the Americas, Europe and Asia. Before joining City University, he served as Chief Academic Officer of Apollo International/University of Phoenix International. From 1974 to 2000, Dr. LeónGarcía served in diverse capacities at CETYS including Chief Academic Officer/ Provost.
Dr. León-García serves on several boards and/or advisory groups including CONAHEC (Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration), FIMPES (Federation of Mexican Private Universities), AGB (Association of Governing Boards), WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges), IAUP (International Association of University Presidents), HACU (Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities), CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education), and the Commission on Internationalization/Global Engagement and the Council of Fellows of ACE (American Council on Education).
Dr. León-García holds a doctoral degree in Educational Administration and Policy Analysis and an M.A. in International Development Education from Stanford University, as well as a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from CETYS University.
Dr. León García was a CONACYT grant holder at Stanford University from 1978 to 1983, a Rotary International grant holder from 1979 to 1980, a member of the International System of Researchers from 1985 to 1987 and from 1987 to 1990, and a grant holder at CETYS from 1971 to 1978.
